![]() WANT TO EXPERIENCE: Support, Team Spirit, Friendship, Exercise JOIN OUR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS DRAGON BOAT TEAM Women in Canoe Breast Cancer Survivors Crew paddled in New York and Princeton regatta during the 2006 season. Anyone interested should email us at bccrew@womenincanoe.com. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY What is Dragon Boating? Dragon Boating is 20 people in a 40 foot boat paddling in unison synchronized to the beat of the drummer at the bow. Why should I join? The dragon boating experience has been described as a "floating support group" for women with breast cancer. Breast cancer survivors of all ages come together to paddle, develop friendships, offer hope and support as well as stay healthy and fit. Is it safe? No link of lifting and repetitive motion to lymphedema.1 Teams of women living with breast cancer and survivors have formed all over the States, in Canada and even as far as New Zealand. The Women in Canoe team is offering coaching and the use of their equipment. Practice is held in Queens at the World’s Fair Marina, which is easily accessible by subway or car (free parking available).
